Giving more kids access to YMCA programs

“Without the YMCA, Alexander would have never known how good it feels to have friends.”

Loneliness, depression, isolation... this is what could lie ahead for Alexander, a 10-year-old kid with autism. Creating contacts, making friends, feeling accepted, being himself.

This is what matters most to his mother, Monique, who signed him up for the YMCA’s day camp and afterschool programs because she wanted to give him a better chance in life.

Now, the entire neighbourhood knows Alexander. His mother is happy to see that her son is part of a community that reaches out to him.
