Éco-quartier Sud-Ouest

Éco-Quartier is the City of Montréal’s environmental action program. It was created in 1995 to provide financial support to community organizations that wish to realize different kinds of environmental projects and activities at the neighbourhood and borough level.

The Éco-Quartier Sud-Ouest is managed by the Pointe-Saint-Charles YMCA. Its mission is to help citizens, community groups, institutions and businesses improve the quality of life in their neighbourhood. The Éco-Quartier Sud-Ouest serves five neighbourhoods:

• Pointe-Saint-Charles;
• Little Burgundy;
• Saint-Henri;
• Ville-Émard;
• Côte-Saint-Paul.

Éco-Quartier’s areas of action include: 

• reducing the amount of waste that is generated in the borough by encouraging residents to reduce their consumption and to reuse, recycle and compost consumer products;
• making neighbourhoods cleaner and more beautiful and improving the urban landscape;  
• raising awareness among residents about the important part they play in improving the environment and the quality of life in their neighbourhood;
• fighting the heat island effect, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality.  

The Éco-Quartier Sud-Ouest is also responsible for graffiti removal.
