Recap of the YMCAs of Québec's 2022 annual general meeting

YMCAs of Québec - April 26 2022

On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the YMCAs of Québec held its Annual General Meeting, where several aspects were presented, notably the organization’s financial statements, the annual donations, a look back at the last year, and the projects planned for the upcoming year.

Despite the pandemic context, which forced the suspension of numerous activities and accelerated the organization’s transformation, the YMCA’s teams worked diligently to adapt and meet the growing needs of communities and individuals, including some of the most vulnerable amongst us. Several programs and activities were maintained throughout the pandemic, others rethought or expanded. For example, the YMCA International Language School started online courses, and a portion of the Y’s fitness activities took place outdoors or online.

As the Y’s President and CEO Stéphane Vaillancourt so aptly explains, “The YMCA has been transforming Quebecers lives for 170 years, and we will continue to adapt to optimize and expand our social impact for decades to come.”

2021 in numbers:

  • 26,595 people benefitted from YMCA programs and activities, including 12,000 young people who received help and support in their academic and personal development.
  • 4,500 people benefitted from social reintegration and exclusion prevention services.
  • 8,495 people stayed active and healthy with the Y.
  • $166,859 in financial assistance provided, giving 968 kids, teens, and adults the opportunity to participate in our programs and activities.

More than one year after its public appeal for partnerships, the YMCAs of Québec is pursuing its organizational transformation to further change the lives of people and communities it serves.

As the Annual General Meeting was once again held online because of the pandemic, you can rewatch it on YouTube.
